When and where?

The event is scheduled for Thursday, January 30th. The event will be timed so that runners and walkers will arrive at the front steps of the legislative building in waves with the quarter-mile walkers arriving first and the marathon runners arriving last. All waves will arrive at the front steps between 12:15 pm and 12:45 pm. To make this happen, the following schedule will be followed:

Those running and walking the last quarter-mile to the front steps of the legislative building will begin at 12:10 pm from United Churches of Olympia which is located at 110 11th Avenue SE in Olympia.

The 5k run and walk will begin at the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation located at 2300 East End Street NW in Olympia.

5K walkers will start at 11 am on January 30th, 2014.

5K runners will start at 11:30 am on January 30th, 2014.

5K runners and walkers will finish at United Churches of Olympia before waiting to run and walk in organized waves to the front steps of the legislative building where a crowd will be gathered to cheer for them. All 5k runners and walkers should be ready to depart at 12:15 pm. If you think you will need more time to complete your run or walk, please plan accordingly and start earlier than the publicized starting times. The route map is posted below.

The half-marathon will begin at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (1601 North Street SE). The 10k will begin at Unity Church of Olympia (1335 Fern Street SW). Maps of the runs are below. Both the half-marathon and the 10k will finish at United Churches of Olympia before waiting to run to the front steps of the legislative building where the crowd will greet them. Runners will need to time their finish so that they can be ready to depart from United Churches of Olympia at 12:15 pm.

Marathon runners will begin and finish at United Churches of Olympia before waiting to run to the front steps of the legislative building between 12:25 and 12:45 pm. Marathon runners will be the last to arrive at the front steps so that all the other participants can be present to cheer their finish. Marathon runners will be responsible for determining their own starting time so that they can be ready to depart United Churches of Olympia for the legislative building at 12:25 pm.

The Marathon Route will follow a loop that passes by a diverse array of supportive faith communities in Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater. An aid station will be located at each faith community. Additional aid will be provided at intervals of every two miles after the first six miles. An approximate route map is below.
